Douglas Lwanga(born on May 1, 1984 ) is a multi-talented media personality, with a strong passion for music and has hosted the most popular TV music shows since 2010 in Uganda. He became a household name on the Uganda Television scene after creating a daily live music show on Record TV Uganda called KATOGO. His unique art of TV Presentation got him a contract to host another daily musical show on Uganda’s Biggest Television channel NTV and currently hosts the most watched musical show called NTV THE BEAT on NTV Uganda. Early Life Douglas Lwanga was born in 1984 in Entebbe, Uganda. He graduated with a BA Mass Communication from Makerere University. Lwanga picked his interest in music while in school in the 1990s at the Mayors College Entebbe, he joined a Music, drama & dance group, The Mayor’s College, that saw him touring Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and the UK doing concerts. When he joined high school at the St Lawrence schools and Colleges - Campus in the early 2000s, he continued with his passion for music and started a dance group called The Exclusives. The group used to mimic dance acts of former boy band singing groups N-sync and Backstreet Boys. While at Makerere University he created another dance group based in church Entebbe Miracle Center which was called the Miracle Saints. The sole motive of this dance group was to use dance to promote good behavior amongst the youth. It’s this early love for music that prompted him to pursue a degree in Mass Communication so that he could be relevant in Entertainment Television He got his first job as a Cameraman, and Video Editor at a small production house called MGS Videos. This humble beginning enabled him to film documentaries, music videos, TV commercials, and also be part of most of the entertainment events in the city as a video editor and camera man. These skills enabled him be relevant as he later joined real television business. In 2008, Douglas Lwanga Joined Record Television Uganda as a TV Producer. Using his previously attained experience he was able to excel fast in Television and in 2010 he decided to challenge himself and he started a daily music TV show called KATOGO that later became a household name. In 2013, he signed a deal with Africa Broadcasting under Nation Media Group (NTV) to Host a daily Music Show called THE BEAT. This show has hosted a wide range of both Local and international artists. The guest list for the show includes Davido, Alaine Laughton, Konshens, Christopher Martin, WizKid, Busy Signal, , Diamond Platnumz, Tiwa Savage, Mafiki Zolo, Sauti Sol, among others. Douglas Lwanga produces TV content that he does distribute on Chano8 digital Magazine an online magazine as well as Face Television channel. He is now creating a syndicated Radio show that he has called the UG-20 Countdown airing soon on various radio stations. Graphics Design Douglas is also a very skillful graphics designer, and has mastered his knowledge in the use of computer graphics programs both still and broadcast. He now produces TV Commercials ranging from Products, Concerts and various artworks that have aired on most Television Channels in Uganda. Radio Despite becoming a television star and producer, Douglas has had presence in radio. While at University in his final year Douglas Lwanga joined Campus Radio and that’s how he ignited his passion for Radio. Later in 2011 he joined 97.7 Record Radio while working on Television at the same time. Douglas Lwanga is the proprietor of the annual Purple Party event that brings together Ugandan Entertainers and their fans uniting them in a single End of year Party. The event attracts a huge number of music lovers and is graced with nonstop live stage performances all night long. The first segment of the event was held on 22 December, in 2011. The annual celebration is now in its fifth year, and now holds country wide tours with the just concluded party being held in Mbarara, in western Uganda.
