Doug Lewis (Royal Navy officer)

Commodore Douglas Raymond Snell Lewis) is a former Royal Navy officer who later became a senior charity executive.
Royal Navy career
Lewis joined the Royal Navy; in 1969 he was commissioned as a sub-lieutenant in the Supply & Secretariat specialisation. He was promoted to commander in 1980, to captain in 1989, and to commodore in 1992.
He was the supply officer of in 1974−75, first supply officer of in 1985−86, and commander of the Royal Naval College, Greenwich in 1988−90.
Lewis served five appointments in the Ministry of Defence, including time as Director of Personnel for the Royal Navy; his final post was as Director Personnel Policy for the British Armed Forces between 1995 and 1998. He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 1993 New Year Honours.
He was president of the Royal Navy Rugby Union between 1997 and 1998.
Charitable activities
Lewis was chairman of Children and Families Across Borders (CFAB; formerly known as ISS UK), the UK Branch of the global International Social Service (ISS) network, from 2004 to 2014. He was president of ISS from May 2014 to May 2018, having previously served as chair of its governing board between 2010 and 2014. On completion of his period of office at ISS in 2018, he rejoined CFAB as its president and as a trustee.
