Donghua Liu

Donghua Liu is a New Zealand businessman and expatriate of China.
Liu became a New Zealand resident in 2005, three years after he first applied for residency.
Liu became publicly known in New Zealand when it emerged that then Minister of Immigration Maurice Williamson had phoned up the police to enquire about a domestic violence case which Liu was involved with. The call by Williamson was labelled political interference by the opposition in Parliament, and led to Williamson's resignation as a minister.<ref name="NZH emails"/>
Liu has been active in donating to both the major New Zealand political parties, with a $15,000 donation to the Labour Party and a $22,000 donation to the National Party.<ref name="TVNZ profile"/>
