Dominic John Davis (Dominic John Suchyta; born November 30 1975) is an American musician, bassist & multi-instrumentalist. He is best known for his work with Jack White on various releases for his Third Man Records label, but has also worked with a number of other artists including his wife, singer/songwriter Rachael Davis, Tom Jones, Jeff Daniels & Wanda Jackson . Born and raised in Southwest Detroit, Davis attended the prestigious Cass Tech High School where he studied both music and the visual arts. He and his childhood friend, Jack White, would listen to records in White's attic and began to record cover songs on an old four-track reel to reel tape machine . Davis moved to Lansing, Michigan and received a degree in Studio Art from Michigan State University while working his way through college at the Fine Arts Library. His music career started as a founding member of the acoustic string band Steppin' In It , but Davis soon became a popular studio musician. He has recorded with Michigan artists Rachael Davis, Seth & May, Breathe Owl Breathe as well as national Artists such as Greg Brown, The Secret Sisters & Jeff Daniels . Recently, Davis has most notably worked with Wanda Jackson, including the recording of her 2011 album The Party Ain't Over and a tour in support of that album which included playing at the Grand Old Opry and performances on Late Night with David Letterman and Conan. Davis played bass on Jack White's recording of "You Know That I Know" for the Bob Dylan helmed album The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams. The songs featured on the album were rescued from notebooks left behind in a leather briefcase by Williams after he died in 1953 at the age of 29. The notes contained lyrics and song ideas that were finished by the 13 artists who contributed to the album. . And Davis played double bass on the Tom Jones single "Evil" for Third Man Records. But perhaps Davis is best know for his work with Jack White on many of his Third Man Records releases and is the bass player of Los Buzzardos, the all-male band Jack White plays with at his solo shows (the other band being the all-female Peacocks) which is currently on a world tour in support of Jack White's album Blunderbuss, released April 23, 2012, and has included performances on Saturday Night Live, The Colbert Report, Amex Unstaged (produced by Gary Oldman), Later... with Jools Holland (England), Concert Prive (France), Album de la Semaine (France), Die Harald Schmidt Show (Germany).
