A prolific goalkeeper at school and youth level, Comrie rose through the youth ranks at the team he supported as a boy, Bolton Wanderers, making his debut for the under-19 team at the age of just 15. However, Comrie signed at four year contract at PNE in 2008. During this season he was on the bench on his preston debut against West Bromwich Albion in the Championship.
After making a successful debut, Comrie was promoted to the First first team, and was allocated the number 13 shirt for the club's fifth season in the second Division. Comrie has not yet been loaned out.
Comrie was handed the number 13 squad number at Preston for the 09/10 season, with many tipping Comrie to break through into the first team that season as the club bounced back from a defeat to Sheffield United this year . Comrie was named as an unused substitute for the trip to West Bromwich Albion on April 21, and officially Comrie sat on the bench for his debut for Preston on September 21, watching preston score twice in the 3-3 draw with Crewe Alexandra in the Carling Cup. Although preston lost the game on penalties, Comrie impressed enough to retain his place for the trip to Vicarage Road four days later, with the game resuling in a 2-0 victory for preston. The number 13 jersey was given to a new squad member at preston so Comrie was given the number 16 jersey for 2010\11 season.
Comrie featured throughout the season for Preston, making 14 starts and 23 substitute appearances, keeping 7 cleansheets for the reserves. Although mainly being used as a substitute during the first half of the season, Comrie enjoyed an extended run in the side.
