Company history Desktop Mapping Technologies Inc. was founded by John Fisher and Glenor Pitters in 1994. The original focus of the company was to provide geographic data, namely a complete Canadian street network. This goal resulted in the CanMap Suite, which grew to include street, water, rail, routing, building footprints, civic address points. In 2001, the company name was officially changed to DMTI Spatial (DMTI). Over time, DMTI has grown from a geographic content provider focused and expanded into offering professional and advisory services under the moniker of Location Intelligence. The company is positioning into Enterprise solution markets primarily with its location Hub offering using the Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery model. They are also a member of URISA. and participated in the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Nature Audit.
Current products and services DMTI Spatial provides enterprise location intelligence solutions utilizing both software, data (both geographic and text) and professional services. DMTI Spatial focus is moving toward Enterprise-scaled Location Intelligence Solutions. Although the company supports a large product line of geographic data products ranging from address points, street network files, postal geography, topographic and more. DMTI Spatial also has relationships with universities and colleges by providing their data products for academic activities.
