Dk Nadiah Pg Khashiem is a Bruneian aviator. On February 23, 2016, she served as first officer, alongside Sharifah Czarena and Sariana Nordin, on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Brunei to Jeddah; the flight was the first in the airline's history to be crewed by an all-female flight crew. Biography Khashiem initially wanted to be an astronaut. Her father encouraged her to apply for work as a pilot when she was in school. In 2016, she was one of an estimated 4,000 women out of 130,000 pilots worldwide. On February 23, 2016, Brunei's National Day, Khashiem served as Senior First Officer along with Captain Sharifah Czarena Surainy Syed Hashim and Senior First Officer Sariana Nordin, flying a Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Saudi Arabia as the first all-female flight crew for Royal Brunei Airlines. The destination of the flight also brought attention to restrictions on women in Saudi Arabia. |
