Biography Lazy K was born on January 12, 1973, in Mexico. After her parents separated when she was only 3 years old, she moved to Spain where she stayed until she was 12. Since her mother was a singer, she spent most of her time traveling and was therefore taken care of by her grandmother. When her grandmother passed away, she and her mother moved to Geneva, Switzerland. As a child she wanted to hang out with hip-hop enthusiasts like taggers, which her parents did not like at all. Wanting to get into the hip-hop world, she decided to fly to New York at the age of 16 and never came back. At the beginning, she had desires to be a singer but unfortunately her mastery of English prevented her from doing so, so she turned to other disciplines such as DJing. Where she lived with her husband, there were a lot of drug dealers listening to loud music in their cars, she gave them her first tapes and after that, they were always asking for more. Having put her number on the tapes, people started calling her from North Carolina or even Connecticut where she ended up becoming more famous than in New York. In 1996 she began competing in djing competitions, finishing third in the US DMC and then first in a Zulu Nation competition.
