DiskDigger is a data recovery program created by Dmitry Brant, and can run under Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. It can be used to recover or undelete files that have been deleted by the user and marked as free space by the operating system, such as when the user empties the Recycle Bin. It can also recover files from media that has been reformatted, and no longer contains references to data that is still physically present on the media. The types of media from which DiskDigger can recover data include hard drives, USB flash drives, memory cards, and MP3 players.
In addition to undeleting files from recognized file systems (FAT, NTFS, exFAT), DiskDigger also acts as a file carver, and is able to detect the presence of lost files independent of the file system, by scanning each block of the media sequentially.
