Disk knight

Disk Knight is a computer program originally designed to prevent virus infection of USB drives and the hard drives they connect to. It works by copying itself onto any flash drive connected to a computer with the program in it, and then replicating in other computers the removable drive is plugged into. By creating certain files, it avoids viruses from creating similar files that could be used in a dangerous way. Because of this system of uncontrolled replication, the Disk Knight is sometimes considered a virus, a benevolent virus, or a potentially unwanted program (PUP). In theory, it is a harmless application and would even be desirable for people who regularly use their USB drives in public computers. Nevertheless, the general opinion on the program is that it must be removed. It is up to the user to decide whether to remove it or not, but it must be noted that it has no negative intentions, as other viruses do (viruses which erase system and personal files, or hand control of the host computer over to a hacker).
