Dieter Anhuf

Dieter Anhuf (born 1 February 1955) is a German geographer, professor for physical geography at the University of Passau. He is considered as one of the rare German experts of Francophone Africa (African French) (Tunisia, Senegal and Côte d' Ivoire). He is one of the rare francophone geographers in Germany. He is also considered an expert for Brazil, as from 2002 - 2004 he holds the Martius-Lehrstuhl für Ökologie (Martius chair for terrestrial ecology) in Sao Paulo.
He speaks fluently French, Spanish, and Portuguese. Anhuf has participated in real field work in tropical rain forests, especially in Sénégal, Côte d'Ivoire, and in Venezuela. In Venezuela he participated as a scientific group leader in the international tropical rain forest experience, called the surumoni project.
