Diego Sanchez (born 1963 in Bogota, Colombia), is a practicing artist and chairman of the visual arts department at , a private, independent Episcopal diocesan school for girls in Richmond, Virginia. He is married to Jennifer Garvin-Sanchez, from Arlington, Virginia. Exhibitions Sanchez has exhibited at Main Art in Richmond, Virginia, at Hunt Gallery at Mary Baldwin College, Quirk Gallery in Richmond, Artspace in Richmond, Virginia, 1708 Gallery, Flippo Gallery at Randolph-Macon College,, Art6 and VisArts. Honors, awards, and collections Sanchez was the first recipient of the Theresa Pollack Artist of the Year Award. In 2011 he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Visual Art Center of Richmond. In 2019, one of his paintings, Composition #76, was acquired by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts for its permanent collection. Education In 1988, he received his BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, and in 1990 he earned his MFA in Painting and Printmaking, also from Virginia Commonwealth University. Teaching In addition to his teaching at St.Catherine's, he has served on the faculties of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Studio School, Virginia Union University, The Visual Arts Center of Richmond (formerly the Hand Workshop), and Nimrod Hall, an artist's retreat in Millboro, Virginia.
