Diamond Nationals

The Diamond Nationals Karate Championships is an international sport karate and traditional tournament held annually in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The tournament was created in 1977 by John Worley, Larry Carnahan, and Bill Dunkley and is owned and operated by JLB Productions. Mr. Worley and Mr. Carnahan are also the co-founders and grandmasters of the National Karate system of American-style karate schools.
The tournament features divisions for point, continuous and team sparring, traditional forms, weapons forms, and creative/extreme forms in team and solo formats. The tournament takes its name from the diamond ring awarded to the grand champions in each of the following divisions:
* Men's Overall Fighting
* Women's Overall Fighting
* Men's Overall Form
* Women's Overall Form
* Men & Women's Overall Weapons
* Men & Women's Overall Weapons and Form 30 & Older
The tournament is affiliated with the North American Sport Karate Association (NASKA). All black belt divisions in the tournament are further divided into A and AA, with AA divisions being where NASKA ratings points are earned, NASKA grand champions are crowned and adult prize money is awarded.
