Diacosmetism

Diacosmetism is a new innovative style in painting consisting of mixed technique on canvas. The forms are being presented by small repeating symbolic decorative parts in contrasting colors. The ideology of diacosmetism is that beauty comes out of the light which wins over darkness. This is a way to overcome the stalemate of modern social life. This new style in painting was created in 2007 by the 15 year old painter Aristea Rellou, a student of the Athens Art School in Greece. Even though the painter named this style diacosmetism from the Greek verb that means “decorate”, it must not be confused with simple decoratism. In June 2008 Aristea Rellou presented the ideological manifest of diacosmetism in her website and published it in the press.
