Development of Windows 8

Development of Windows 8 began when Windows 7 was released. Milestone 1, Milestone 2 are recently sent to Microsoft's partners in 2010 end and 2011. Milestone 1 version was showcased in CES 2011 running on ARM architecture system.
Milestone 1
Development started with 6.1.7800.0.winmain_win8m1.100816-1855 with various builds have been developed and produced as a part of alpha testing with practically no new features and user interface.
6.2.7867 Build was previewed in CES 2011 running on ARM architecture system.
Milestone 2
The recent builds which made a wild leak were 6.2.7930.0.winmain_win8m2.110217-1825 (canouna)
6.2.7947.0.winmain_win8m2_escrow.110218-1608.
Milestone 3
M3 build are reported to have been started from February 28, 2011. According to rumors Microsoft has already added multi touch interface, built in App Store and Login using Windows Live ID,but no information is available regarding the changes in user interface in Windows 8 till yet.
Beta
Paul Thurott of winsupersite.com has claimed that beta version would be distributed to attendees of PDC 2011. And there will be two beta versions.
Tablet version of Windows 8 codenamed "Peju"are rumored to be released in Q1 2012 according to the recent roadmap of Dell.
