DeSmuME

DeSmuME is an emulator of the Nintendo DS. DeSmuME is free and open-source and is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. The name "DeSmuME" is a combination of "DS", short for Nintendo DS, "emu", short for emulator, and "ME", something commonly used at the ends of the names of homebrew projects for the Nintendo DS. It supports 2 different methods for emulating the CPU of the Nintendo DS: the Interpreter with its higher compatibility and the Dynamic Recompiler with its higher speed.
Reception
Joaquin García of Linux Adictos, in an August 2017 Spanish-language article about DeSmuME, called it "maybe the best emulator for GNU/Linux" and said that DeSmuME is present in almost all Linux distributions as "a great alternative for lovers of video games that have few resources".
Brendan Hesse of Digital Trends, in a March 2017 review, rated DeSmuME as the second-best Nintendo DS emulator after No$GBA and the best Nintendo DS core for RetroArch, citing No$GBA’s better support of the Nintendo DSi and the lack of BIOS file support in the DeSmuME RetroArch core as why No$GBA beat it out for first place. Mr. Hesse did call DeSmuME "one of the best emulators for DS emulation" though, citing its ease of use, selection of options, and support for accessing Game Boy Advance ROM and SRAM data from Nintendo DS games which have a GBA connectivity feature.
According to an April 2017 review on TechApple.net, DeSmuME is the best Nintendo DS emulator for Windows PCs, beating No$GBA which comes in second and DuoS DSEMU which comes in third. The review cited it having better sound emulation than the other emulators as well as standard emulator features such as support for saved games, save states, cheat codes, and external gamepads and joysticks.
Alex Garnett of PC World recommended DeSmuME for emulating the Nintendo DS in September 2011, stating that "Compatibility is near 100 percent, and few machines will have any trouble running it at full speed," in a mostly positive review recommending it.
In 2009, Jason Fitzpatrick of Lifehacker recommended DeSmuME as a Nintendo DS emulator in a glowing review which listed many of its features, such as emulating the buttons, touchscreen interface, Wi-Fi connection of the Nintendo DS, while also offering screenshots, movie recording, cheat codes, and save states, and being able to play both commercial ROMs and homebrew games.
