Derrick Strickland

Derrick Ray Strickland is an entertainment industry professional who has often been credited under the name of Derrick Ray.
Personal Life
He was born in Conyers, GA and attended The University of Alabama then transferred to Georgia State University where he studied Media and Communications. He is married.
Career
Throughout the 1990's he was featured in dozens of commercials for many companies including Diet Coke, Levi's (Directed by Michael Bay), Apple Fig Newtons, Tetra Pak, Nivea and many more. He also starred in "This Ain't A Love Song" music video. It was around this time he began to take photography seriously and assisted photographers on music video shoots for singers such as Jessica Simpson, Macy Gray and Oscar De La Hoya.
He eventually cemented the move behind camera when he began working for labels and publishing companies created by music legend Bob Shad, Mainstream Records and Time Records, Inc., first as an assistant finally working his way up to Creative Director and Music Publishing manager.
After that stint in the music business, he moved back to his real love: film. Where in 2012 he co-wrote the documentary "Fight to Live" with Carla Woods and co-produced it with Woods, Eric Scott Woods and two-time Academy Award Winner, Barbara Kopple. He recently finished up working on two feature films, Badasses and Dakota's Summer.
In addition, he has continued his photography and his photographs have recently been seen in magazines such as Luxe, Interiors California, and Bedrooms and Baths.
