Defused

Defused is a progressive instrumental rock band from Southern Illinois who has recently received worldwide media coverage. Their CD, The Point of Beginning is scheduled to be released digitally on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and other digital mp3 stores. Early Years Defused was founded by guitarist Michael Hicks in 2006. He released the debut album "Broken" later that year. Hicks considered Defused to be a "one-man band" and experimented greatly with different recording techniques and genres which showed greatly in the 2007 sophomore effort "The Virus of Life". The album contained many electronica influences, with hardly no songs containing real instruments, but computer generated guitars and synths. In 2008 the third CD, "What I've Become" was released, the album was considered a mix between the last two albums having both electronica elements and rock elements. Soon after the release of "What I've Become" Hicks grew tired of the sound of Defused and decided to turn Defused in a whole new direction. Recent Events and Worldwide Attention In February of 2008 Hicks started writing for the new album and eventually decided to turn Defused into a proper band. Brock Baltzell joined the band and alongside Hicks wrote most of "The Point of Beginning". Connor Burge and Derek Burwell later joined and formed the first band line-up. The band released several singles from the album and soon was getting internet play. The lead single from the CD "Tonight, It Ends" was the #1 track on the website Distortion Radio, beating out signed bands like Foo Fighters, Paramore, Bayside, Lostprophets and others. Between all of the singles released from the album Defused soon had heard by thousands of listeners worldwide. The song was the second most requested song of 2008 on the website. Hicks announced in December of 2008 that the album would be up on iTunes and other major digital mp3 companies to download. It is currently available on CDBaby to purchase.
