DeflateGate

DeflateGate is an ongoing scandal in the National Football League which occurred in January 2015, where it was found that footballs used in the AFC Championship game were underinflated.
Background
Following the 2015 American Football Conference Championship game on January 18, 2015, the National Football League investigated allegations that eleven of the twelve New England Patriots' game balls for that event had been underinflated by two pounds per square inch. D'Qwell Jackson intercepted a pass by Tom Brady and contrary to early reports, never noticed anything unusual about the ball. The Colts equipment manager was the next person to handle the ball for safekeeping. On January 20, the allegations of under-inflation surfaced.
On January 22, Patriots' Head Coach Bill Belichick indicated that he did not know anything about such reports until the day after the event, and that the New England Patriots would "cooperate fully" with any investigation. He stated, "When I came in Monday morning, I was shocked to hear about the news reports about the footballs. I had no knowledge of the situation until Monday morning. I think we all know that quarterbacks, kickers, specialists have certain preferences on the footballs. They know a lot more than I do. They're a lot more sensitive to it than I am. I hear them comment on it from time to time, but I can tell you, and they will tell you, that there's never any sympathy whatsoever from me on that subject. Zero. Tom's personal preferences on his footballs are something that he can talk about in much better detail and information than I could possibly provide." Brady himself also held a news conference on the 22nd, prepping his team with a talk beforehand. He denied any involvement and stated that the National Football League had not contacted him in regards to their investigation.
According to the ideal gas law, a change in temperature from 72 F (room temp) to 48 F (temp at halftime) would cause a 1.5psi drop in pressure. However, reports indicated that the Colts' footballs were found to be in the legal range of 12.5 to 13.5 PSI at halftime.
