Death of Osama bin Laden conspiracy theories

The death of Osama bin Laden has given rise to various conspiracy theories, hoaxes, and rumors. These include the notion that bin Laden has been dead for years, or is still alive. Doubts about bin Laden's death have been fueled by the US military's disposal of the body at sea, a decision that has received widespread criticism.
The people who believe in the conspiracy theories have been referred to by mainstream media as 'deathers'.
Overview
Attention has been drawn to inconsistencies related to the reported death of Osama bin Laden. Though senior officials initially suggested that an armed bin Laden used his wife as a human shield and that said wife was killed along with him in the gunfight, the U.S. government later stated that was not true. Instead, the wife was shot but not killed, was not used as a human shield, and that bin Laden was unarmed but did resist in an unstated fashion. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney admitted that even he was "confused" by the conflicting reports and that the government "provided a great deal of information with great haste." Professor Peter Romaniuk of John Jay College described the burial at sea as a way to shut out further questions. He stated: "Obviously they’re going to be under pressure to show a body or produce further evidence, but this was a way of taking that issue off the table."
Residents of Abbottabad reportedly not only doubt that bin Laden is dead, but also that he ever lived among them. Conspiracy theories abound in the Middle East, according to Lewis Brownstein, professor of international relations and political science at State University of New York.
Facebook groups have been formed discussing a rumor, in what has been dubbed the "death hoax". Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan stated "If you believe the newest death of OBL, you’re stupid," referring to America as a
"lying, murderous Empire" and telling Americans, whom she called "brainwashed," to "put flags away."
Blogs have theorised that the raid and assassination were faked in a conspiracy to attempt to deflect questions about President Barack Obama's citizenship, or to boost Obama's approval ratings and guarantee him popularity during the 2012 U.S. presidential election.
Other conspiracy theories
Numerous other conspiracy theories relating to bin Laden's death that are being discussed include:
*That Osama bin Laden was in fact killed a number of years ago in the Tora Bora mountains, but that this information had been kept secret to encourage continued support for the war on terror.
*That it is suspicious that the death of Osama bin Laden occurred exactly eight years after George W. Bush's declaration of "mission accomplished" in Iraq and Afghanistan.
*That the announcement of Osama bin Laden's death was delayed so as not to clash with the festivities surrounding the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. In 2003, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright suggested this to Fox News reporter Morton Kondracke saying, "Do you suppose that the Bush administration has Osama bin Laden hidden away somewhere and will bring him out before the election?"
