Death of Harry Welter

Harry Welter was born April 24, 1937,He served as Saint Michael mayor from 1987 to 1991. Death At about 7 p.m. on Dec. 23, 2021 a Saint Michael deputy was responding to an "unknown" medical call when he hit Welter. According to the sheriff's office's update, the deputy arrived and "did not see the victim on the ground in the unlit driveway," adding the deputy pulled in and "made contact with the victim at slow speed causing injury. The State Patrol report said road conditions as snowy and icy. The involved deputy was wearing a seatbelt and was unharmed. No alcohol was involved. Harry was transported to Maple Grove Hospital by ambulance, but died from his injuries Investigation The deputy involved has been with the sheriff's office since September 2020 and was put on paid administrative leave |
