Georgia Godfrey

Georgia Godfrey (born July 11, 1982, in Midland, Texas) is currently the Chief of Staff to former U.S. Secretary of State, Professor Condoleezza Rice at Stanford University.
Career
Prior to joining Professor Rice at Stanford, Godfrey founded and ran her own public affairs firm, Trailblazer Public Affairs. Earlier in her career, Godfrey served in several capacities as a member of President George W. Bush's administration. In her first role at the White House from 2001-2005, she worked as a Press Assistant in the Office of the Press Secretary overseeing and managing presidential events, logistics, and national and international media interactions. Godfrey returned to the White House in 2008 to serve as the primary on-site communications spokesperson for the President as he traveled the country and the world. Between stints at the White House, Godfrey served at the U.S. Department of Commerce as a Public Affairs Specialist advising Secretary Carlos Gutierrez on environmental, economic, and census issues. She also served as Senior Strategist at Outside Eyes Public Relations in Newport Beach, California, where she advised and provided strategic media direction to music industry entertainers, actors, major non-profit organizations, and publicly traded companies.
In the news
In April 2011, Godfrey made a cameo appearance on NBC's hit comedy 30 Rock playing an assistant to Condoleezza Rice who portrayed Alec Baldwin's character, Jack Donaghy's ex-girlfriend.
In May 2011, Godfrey was quoted saying, "It’s closure. I feel it actually is a little bit of closure. There was so much hurt and pain that day and this eases the stress that he is still out there," referencing 9/11 and the death of Osama bin Laden.
Personal life
Godfrey, an accomplished violinist, remains engaged in the arts as a member of the Board of Directors for Classics for Kids. She is also on the Advisory Council for She-PAC, a political action committee dedicated to supporting conservative women running for statewide or federal office. She currently resides in Palo Alto, California.
