Davide Petrucci (born October 17, 1991 in San Basilio suburb of Rome, Italy) is a Italian professional footballer. He plays for the English club Manchester United in the Premier League, having joined them in June 2008, and also and for the Italian national under-17 football team.
He is widely considered to be an attacking midfielder or support striker.
Youth and International career
He scored 14 goals in 19 matches last season and was the top scorer in Roma's youth team. He has also starred for Italy's under-17 team.
Manchester United
He will earn £95,000 a year and United will cover the cost of his regular flights home to Italy, while his father, Stefano, has been offered a job as a groundsman at United. The deal for Petrucci is the maximum permissible offer for a youth-team player. He is also nicknamed the new "Francesco Totti", because the two share the same versatility, able to play as a striker, playmaking midfielder or support striker.
AS Roma will receive around £200,000 in compensation and many Roman representatives feel that Petrucci was 'stolen'. It is also widely disputed as to whether or not Petrucci joined United just because they had offered his father a job, and thus convinced the latter to persuade Petrucci to join United.
