David W. Collins

David Wayne Collins (born 1975/1976 in Vacaville, California) is an American sound designer, composer, actor and voice actor who is mostly known for his work for video game developer LucasArts, where he worked from 2000 to 2011.
Biography and career
Collins was born in Vacaville, California. He studied music and acting at Whitworth College, finishing it in 1997. After graduation from Whitworth he learned various music and sound aspects at Berklee College of Music. In 2000 he set up in Lucasfilm's subsidiary Skywalker Sound as Scoring Assistant. Then, a game audio position opened in LucasArts and Collins took it up. His first works were Star Wars: Bounty Hunter and Star Wars: Obi-Wan. In fact, Collins's career is tightly binded with Star Wars games and since his recruiting he is working almost only on them, but he had also worked on Monkey Island, Mercenaries and Indiana Jones franchises. He had a highlight in 2007 game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, where he voiced the main hero's droid sidekick/enemy PROXY and was the Audio Lead. Collins said that the inspiration for voicing PROXY came from characters like C-3PO and Data from Star Trek and his role as loyal, simple monk named Juniper in college play. As a composer, Collins had done some tracks for theme park management game Thrillville. Collins also wrote all ingame songs along with Jesse Harlin. In 2007 he and Harlin were awarded with the Game Audio Network Guild (GANG) Award for "Best Original Vocal - Pop" for their work on Thrillville's song "Dr. Kunkle's Funnkel Cake." He quit LucasArts in January 2011, and his last work at here was Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, where he, aside from voice directing, reprised the role of PROXY. Collins now works at SCE Santa Monica Studio as Sound Design Manager.

Collins also plays in Berkeley Repertory Theatre and sometimes works as voice-over actor for radio ads, TV commercials and video games.
