David Kyrle Down

David Kyrle Down (born 9 April 1918) is an Australian missionary, field archaeologist, broadcaster, author, founder of Diggings and Archaeological Diggings magazines, and presenter of the popular video series Digging up the Past. Down has proposed a revised chronology of Ancient Egypt in his 2006 work co-authored with John F. Ashton, Unwrapping the Pharaohs, which he compares to the 1971 work The Exodus Problem and its Ramifications by Donovan Courville and to the revised chronology of Immanuel Velikovsky. In support of his contention that Ancient Egyptian chronologies need to be revised, he also cites the British historian Peter James. He is also a history editor for the Young Earth creationist magazine Answers published by Answers in Genesis. Ashton and Down's book is available to read on the Answers in Genesis website. |
