David Jo Bradley

David Jo Bradley (born UK, 1 July 1978) is a contemporary Australian Documentary Photographer and Writer.
Early life
The son of David and Eileen Bradley, David Bradley junior was born in Cornwall, England. But following the forced sale of the family home, Acton Castle, they moved to rural Western Australia when he was six.
As a young boy growing up, his family travelled extensively. These experiences during his formative years Bradley attributes to being the key factors in his desire for constant movement in adulthood, and his fascination for unfamiliar cultures, two strongly defining themes in his photography.
Bradley began photographing while studying journalism at Edith Cowan University. It was shortly after taking photography courses to “support” his journalism he realised he was far more capable with a camera than he was with a typewriter.
Photographic Approach
Bradley’s photography has been described as “capturing the emotion of shared moments.” He is interested in documenting the brief relationships he has with people:
:“I want my photographs to capture the interaction I have with those around me... I want the emotion to be visible, so there’s a tangible connection between subject, photographer and audience member.”
Bradley's work gained recognition, particularly within the Australian photographic circles, with the release 2008 of his nine til five photographic series, which depicts carparks and other mass points of consumerism at night. Essentially the series commented on how mass - or hyper - consumerism transforms environment.
Bradley has photographed extensively throughout the world, undertaking projects in Bangladesh, China, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Russia and Spain, as well as photographing regularly in Australia and the UK.
Personal life
Bradley currently lives and works in London, UK. In July 2011 he became engaged to stage actress Sian Dhu.
In his teens Bradley was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. He is also avid musician, and has played guitar since his early teens.
