Noted American Esquire, Real Estate investor, and 6th generation Texan, David Barnard Hale was born February 17th, 1967, as David Wayne Barnard. Hale was born at Carswell Air Force base in Fort Worth Texas to Sharon Lee Hodgdon and John Lemuel Barnard, who was an active member of the U.S. Military. Shortly after birth, Barnard-Hale's parent's divorced and his mother remarried John Crawford Hale. Within a couple of years the newly married couple had a child of their own, John Cody. Not wanting the children to have differing last names, and feeling strongly that he was David's father, John Hale adopted David and his name was changed to David Barnard-Hale. Hale currently does not use the hyphen and is commonly known simply as David Hale. Hale was raised on Eagle Mountain Lake on the northwest side of Fort Worth in an upper middle class household. He attended Texas Christian University and then UCLA. Having completed his education, Hale started his career in Beverly Hills California working under General Counsel at a large real estate holding company in the in-house legal department. After a time, Hale moved to Northern California where he worked for Lucasfilm, Ltd., George Lucas' production company, working on such films as "Titanic", "Bugs Life", and "Star Wars: Phantom Menace". After a successful 4 year run with Lucasfilm, Hale was recruited to work for the CEO of Louis Vuitton's eLuxury in downtown San Francisco where he assisted directly in establishing an internet presence for eLuxury. Hale would then turn his attention from Entertainment and Intellectual Property to Public Finance; working directly with the Practice Group Head at Sidley Austin Brown & Wood, later renamed "Sidley." After a very successful period at Sidley, Hale was again recruited to work at another large and prestigious firm, King & Spalding, known as K&S. Once there, Hale led the firm, under the tutelage of the Managing Partner, in establishing a presence in both downtown San Francisco and Silicon Valley. During this period Hale bought and sold several pieces of California real estate, turning each over and realizing great profit. Thus began Hale's stint as a real estate developer and investor, which continues to this day. Recently, under the LLC created to manage his real estate holdings DBH INVESTMENTS, Hale and his partners were named Investors of the Year, 2009, by the RWH. Missing his home state of Texas, he then relocated to the Houston area where his immediate family had moved years earlier. Currently, Hale is working in the Maritime field for a well respected and venerable firm with an extremely rich history while acting as CEO of DBH.
