Darren Chapman also known as DJ Darren C (born 19 December 1973) in Bedford, Bedfordshire. Background Born in Queens Park, Bedford to a family of Nevisian heritage. He attended John Howard Upper school now known as Biddenham Upper School. In his first Job he worked as a shop sales assistant in a clothes store in the centre of Bedford Town. He attended a two year course at Bedford College of Higher Education where he undertook a course in Media studies and completed modules in Television and Radio. While still at college Chapman completed work experience at BBC Three Countries in Luton, Bedfordshire. Radio career In 1999 he worked part-time at BBC Three Counties radio for over 2 years gaining experience working as an assistant producer on the Saturday evening show called The Black Mix. He then completed another period of work experience for Central London production company Wise Buddha in March 2002 working on Trevor Nelson's Saturday R&B Chart and Rhythm Nation. In July 2002 Chapman began working at BBC Radio 1 as a Broadcast Assistant on Trevor Nelson's R&B Chart and Rhythm Nation. Since then he's also worked on high profile shows such as DJ Spoony's Weekend Breakfast Show and JK & Joel's Early Breakfast Show. Chapman moved to the UK's only national urban radio station BBC 1Xtra in 2006 where he worked with dj's such as Tim Westwood, Rodney P, DJ Semtex, Dev, Benji B and DJ Edu. DJ career Chapman started DJing in 2006 after practising with spare House, Hip Hop and R&B vinyl records at Radio 1. He continued to dj at house parties and small bars around London gaining experience. Since then he's dj'ing career has taken him to play at clubs such as Ministry of Sound, Pangea, Embassy No. 5 and Fabric. His skills have also taken him global where he has played in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Argentina - During the summer seasons of 2005 to 2009 he warmed up for DJ Trevor Nelson at his weekly residency in the Global Room at the nightclub Pacha, Ibiza. During the 2010 European summer season Chapman was the international resident dj at Disco Orange in the resort of Sunny Beach on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria playing Electro/Progressive House and urban music to holiday makers from all over Europe As Darren C he dj'ed and produced the BBC 1Xtra programme The Morning Mix show every Friday between October 2009 and January 2010 for which he went uncredited.
