Dare To Love Me

Dare To Love Me is the upcoming feature film based on the true life story of Tango legend Carlos Gardel. Directed by Alfonso Arau and based upon the biography by Lucas Jarach and screenwritten by Oliver Mayer and Nicolas Veinberg, it will star Lindsay Lohan and Raoul Bova in the lead roles.
Production
The film was announced on January 12, 2007 but no news on the film came until August 20, 2007 when the 2 lead actors were announced to be Raoul Bova and Lindsay Lohan. Filming began sometime in mid October 2007 on locations in Bucharest, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, and Paris, but came to a hiatus in early January 2008 due to financing problems, after which it was rumoured that the production of the remainder of the film had been cancelled. The rumour was dispelled when it was announced that work on the film would continue in September 2008. This was modified on December 17, 2008, when it was stated that the film would finally resume production on May 18, 2009 for a projected release sometime in 2010. Worldwide distribution is already being contracted for Italy, Australia, Greece, and the Philippines.
Plot
In the seedy underworld of 1920s Buenos Aires, Tango legend Carlos Gardel (Bova) is involved in a torrid love affair with a prostitute and sees his life shattered when a bullet takes her life and pierces his own flesh. Remaining in his lung for the rest of his life, the bullet serves as an eternal reminder of his pain and loss. Finding his way to the exciting Paris of the 1930s, Carlos seduces the crowds with his enchanting voice, bringing Tango music as a liberating force to Europe. Amidst this backdrop of free-spirited decadence and corruption, a mysterious woman, La Ritana (Lohan) enters his life and changes him forever, turning his beautiful sorrow into a musical legend.
