His first start for the youth side came in November of that same year when they beat Tranmere Rovers youth 3-2. Danny was a regular scorer for the youth side in 09/10, finishing the season with a 16 minute hat-trick against Tranmere Rovers.
Danny was named on the bench for the first team against Accrington Stanley in March 2011, however he was not used. He was named on the bench a further four times during the season but was never used. The four times he was an unused sub were against Port Vale, Crewe Alexandra, Northampton Town and Cheltenham Town.
In the 2011/12 season after gaining high praise from Stockport Manager Dietmar Hamman he was again named on the bench but this time came on to make his début in the 4-2 home defeat against Fleetwood Town on 27 September. Danny scored his first senior goal for Stockport away against Cambridge in October 2012. He was given his first senior start in the FA Cup fourth round qualifying tie against Southport in November 2012.
Just before the end of the 2011/12 season Danny signed his first professional contract which would keep him with Stockport until the end of the 2013/14 season
