Adoption and Pro-Life Advocacy
As the executive director of Nightlight Christian Adoptions, Daniel Nehrbass advocates for better inter-country cooperation for adoption.
Nehrbass is known for advocacy of “openness” in adoptions, including embryo adoption. He was quoted, "They want to have some say in who adopts the embryos; they want to know who the adoptive parents are and have a relationship with them."
Nehrbass believes that adoption agencies should be included in the embryo donation process, in order to solve the social problems created by anonymous gamete and embryo donations. He was quoted, "We have learnt over the past 100 years that every child not raised by its biological parents will eventually start looking for them. Now we’re repeating the mistake with assisted reproduction because we’re creating a new set of anonymous parents through sperm and now embryo donation."
The adoption process that Nehrbass advocates is based on best practices in social work, and on a pro-life platform. World Magazine quotes him: “The vast majority of people don’t have a plan . They don’t want to destroy them because there is finality to that. So they store them and the years go by...Embryos are human life, and they deserve a chance to be born.” Daniel Nehrbass has also organized pro-life rallies in front of Planned Parenthood facilities.
