A dance off is a street dance battle in which two rivals will dance against each other to see who is the better and usually settle a dispute, although recently these battles have been primarily for recreation and enjoyment. This battle is held inside a ring of spectators who also act as judges for the competition. History The dance-off originated from the 1980s craze of new wave and disco. It started mainly between rival gangs fighting against each other to settle their arguments. The two sides would dance against each other to showcase their talents and the best dancer would then win the battle and claim victory.
