Dana D. Munsey

Dana Dwayne Munsey, (April 4, 1964—) born in Roanoke, Virginia, is an auto mechanic and the mayor of Pembroke, in Giles County, Virginia, United States. He is an Independent with no party affiliation, and was first elected in 2002.
Munsey was raised in Martinsville, Virginia, until he reached 7th grade in school. He is the eldest of three brothers (the others are Colin and Kelly). His father, Bill Munsey, then worked as an elementary school principal and his mother, Pat Munsey, worked as a grievance coordinator in the local area. He has two children, a stepdaughter named Shanaye and a son, Brandon. He is also a member of the American Legion.
Munsey graduated from Giles High School and then joined the U.S. military, where he became an 82nd Airborne paratrooper. After leaving the military, he began mechanics work, opening up his own auto repair shop in Pembroke.
Politics
Munsey first ran for mayor in 2002, against Lester Tickle, who also ran as an Independent. Munsey won the election, receiving 143 of the 267 total votes, or 53.56% of them. Approximately 39% of the registered voters in Pembroke participated in the election.
Munsey's term in office has so far focused on bringing business to the town, improving the sewage plant, and lowering the town’s water bills.
