Damien Plessis

Damien Plessis (born March 5, 1988 in Neuville-aux-Bois, France) is a French footballer who currently plays for Liverpool. His position is holding midfielder.

He arrived at Olympique Lyonnais at the age of 15, and was considered to be one of the brightest talents of the club, following in the footsteps of fellow Lyon youngsters Karim Benzema and Hatem Ben Arfa. During his time at Lyon, Plessis played two seasons with the reserve team coached by Robert Valletta. However, before playing out his final contracted year Lyon, he left to join Liverpool like former French young starlets, for example Florent Sinama-Pongolle or Anthony Le Tallec.

Plessis was first noticed by Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez in the Under-19 European Championships 2007 where he made it to the semi-finals. On securing his signature, Benitez said: "He is a good player, big and strong, and we're sure he'll do well for us."

He has yet to play in the first-team for Liverpool.
