Damien Broad

Damien Broad (born in Cardiff) is a Welsh former semi-professional footballer, who played in the Welsh League for several clubs. He currently works at Bristol City F.C's prestigious youth academy and is Head Coach with Welsh League Division Two side Pontypridd Town AFC and has been in the role since August 2013. Broad previously worked as a coach at Manchester City's youth academy in China.
Managerial career
Pontypridd Town
Broad has earned a great reputation as an assistant manager at Pontypridd Town having managed the club since the start of the 2013/14 season. Brought into the club by the current chairman Phil Gibb who had been keenly watching him progress through the managerial ranks at Welsh League Division One side Caerau Ely. Broad was brought in, alongside his brother Dominic Broad to steady the ship at Pontypridd Town and to save them from relegation out of the Welsh Football League.
Dominic and his brother Damien Broad (Assistant Manager at the time) built up a squad of players they themselves had played with throughout their decade spent playing in the Welsh League and against all odds saved the club from relegation.
The two brothers were the brains behind an idea to take Pontypridd Town over to Spain to play an illustrious pre-season friendly against La Liga's Valencia CF, in which The Dragons succumbed to a toughly fought 3-0 defeat.
The following season The Dragons finished in a safe 7th position in the league before going even further in the pre-season by playing a lucrative friendly against Deportivo de La Coruña, a game in which The Dragons lost 4-0 after going for broke with ten minutes of the game remaining and being just 1-0 down.
When the team re-assembled following the summer break, it had just one goal. To gain promotion from the third division to the second division of the Welsh League. The club would go one step further and win the league with a game to spare, beating off competition from close rivals Abergavenny Town and Bridgend Street to lift the prestigious trophy.
Personal life
Damien lives a quiet life outside of football, living in the Cardiff area with his long term partner and family as well as studying for a master's degree in Sports Management and also lecturing in Football Coaching and his experiences in China.
