			| Damian Kidd is an American lawyer, conservative, and member of the Republican Party. In 2017 he announced that he would challenge five-term incumbent Jason Chaffetz for the congressional seat in Utah's 3rd congressional district, highlighting Chaffetz's unnecessary interference in DC politics as a reason for his campaign.<ref name=dcist/> 
 Early life and education
 Kidd was born to a 15-year-old mother who gave him up for adoption. Her decision to have a child has been used to support his stance on abortion.<ref nameslt.abortion/> He spent his early years in Blackfoot, Idaho.<ref namesentinel/>
 He attended Brigham Young University, from where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science, and a University of Idaho, where he received a juris doctorate.<ref name=heraldextra/>
 Kidd currently resides in American Fork, where he has lived since 2012 and, previously, Springville, Utah since 2007.<ref nameheraldextra/> Kidd has lived in Utah County since 1996, with the exception of three years in Idaho.<ref nameheraldextra/>
 Career
 Kidd worked for Republican Congressman Mike Crapo of Idaho. <ref nameslt.considering/> He previously served as the deputy prosecuting attorney for Bingham County, Idaho, As of 2016, he practices law at the offices of Driggs Bills and Day in American Fork.  <ref nameheraldextra/>
 In January 2017, Kidd announced his candidacy for Congress, opposing incumbent Chaffetz.<ref namedeseret/> Kidd voted for Chaffetz previously, but was dissapointed by Chaffetz performance and his misuse of his role as Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. <ref namedeseret/>
 Positions
 Kidd has described himself as  "very conservative" on economic issues and plans to apply conservative principles to the national debt.<ref nameheraldextra/> Kidd has stated that he supports term limits and that four terms is more than enough for any Congressman, especially Chaffetz. <ref nameheraldextra/>
 Kidd has stated that Utah residents do not like federal overreach in local matters and staunchly crticicized Chaffetz's interference in DC affairs. <ref namedcist/><ref namenbc/>
 Personal life
