D. V. Rao is an Indian lawyer and activist who works on public interest litigations. Some of his major issues are fully staffing the country's court systems and enforcing election anti-corruption laws. Rao is noted for his use of public interest litigation (PIL) to support a number of causes related to corruption, environmental protection and human rights. He has practiced in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh and at the Supreme Court of India Rao has filed a PIL seeking Ban on Begging. Rao has filed a PIL seeking a direction to fix the maximum expenditure during an election of MLCs. A public interest litigation has been filed by Rao challenging the action of the central government in clearing a proposal to grant exemption to political parties from the Right to Information Act.
