Cyclone Maha

Cyclone Maha is the fourth cyclone in Arabian Sea. Maha is following Cyclone Kyarr, which was in Category 4 in terms of intensity. The name Maha is given to it by Oman's Met Office. “Currently the depression lay 220 kilometres South West of Thiruvananthapuram and over the next 24 hours it is expected to intensify into a deep depression and it could move North westwards towards Lakshadweep. If this depression gains strength and intensifies into a cyclone." Orange alert was issued in four districts of Kerala.
Meteorological history
Skymet Weather reported, 29 October 2019 , that tropical storm Maha is travelling across Lakshadweep Islands and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea. It is centered at Latitude 11.5°N and Longitude 72.8°E about 40 km north-­northeast of Lakshadweep, 350 km north­-northwest of Minicoy, 110 km north­-northeast of Kavaratti and 325 km west­-northwest of Kozhikode.
The weather channel reported that IMD expects Maha to intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm.
