Cybalism

Cybalism
Cybalism (pronounced "Sigh"-"Ball"-"izm") is a new spiritual philosophy which explains the "Universal Truth" of all things.

The word is a conjunction of Cycles and Balance, two of Cybalism's principle tenets. It is also a version of the Greek word for "Sage".

The Cybal

The Cybalist Symbol, the "Cybal", consists of a circle, representing the Great Cycle of the universe. Half the circle is dark, half light, representing "positive" and "negative" in equality. Within this is a see-saw, representing balance, the pivot of which is a triangle, which represents the three layers - physical, mental, spiritual. The shadow represents the Ghost Cycle, and the gap in the main circle is the Cataclysm.

Cybalists see everything in cycles. The so-called "Great Cycle" of the Universe is its birth (the Big Bang), subsequent expansion, and eventual death in the "Big Crunch", whereupon the cycle starts over.

The Universe's expansion is so great that at the distances involved, a fourth dimension or "curvature" manifests itself, which causes the Universe to "fold in" on itself, which is how it comes back to the Big Crunch at the end of time.

Cybalists also believe the Universe is totally balanced, such that the sum total of all matter and energy is equal to zero.

At the point of the Big Crunch, as all matter and energy gathers at a single point, it "winks" out of existence before exploding once again into another, new Universe.

Another Cybalist concept is that of the "Ghost", which is a spirit or "spark", completely separate from the Universe but bound to it through life forms. The Ghost is born with the birth of the first life, and dies with the death of the last. The gulf that exists between the birth of the Universe and that of the Ghost, and between the death of the Ghost and that of the Universe, is called the "Cataclysm".

The Ghost is singular and without form or sentience. Every living thing contains the whole Ghost, which one may call God, and thus we are all God. Each living thing is a different aspect of the Ghost.

Cybalism is deemed by its adherents to be "Self-evident" - that is to say that if one empties one's mind, one "perceives" the Universal Truth and can deduce everything about Cybalism without reference to The Book of Cybalism. One who is capable of this deduction is called a "Sage".

The Book of Cybalism is the basic Cybalist text, and is still being written. It is expected to be published in 2009.

----

Cybalism operates at three distinct layers.

Physical - this layer is concerned with the physical world and the body.

Mental - this layer is concerned with the mind.

Spirit - this layer is concerned with the "Ghost".

At each layer, five virtues operate.

Simplicity - The removal of prejudice and past experiences that colour judgment

Control - To remain in control of oneself while not seeking to control others

Honesty - To be completely open and honest to oneself and to others

Balance - To be moderate, taking in both sides of an argument

Flow - To appreciate the innate nature, or "flow" of all things

Cybalists believe that by mastering the five virtues at all three levels, one attains complete wellbeing and calmness.
