The Curse Of Peter Ledger is an alleged curse that has an effect on the San Francisco Bay area professional sports teams. None of them have not won a championship since his death in 1994. The last championship came when The San Francisco 49ers won Super Bowl XXIX against the San Diego Chargers 49-26 in the 1994 NFL Season. Since then, no other San Francisco Bay Area professional sports team has been able to win a championship in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL. The closest a team has come to breaking it came in 2002. The San Francisco Giants lost the 2002 World Series to the then Anaheim Angels in seven games. The Oakland Raiders lost Super Bowl XXXVII to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 48-21 in the 2002 NFL Season. Some say that one attempt to break the curse would be for any fan of the San Francisco Bay Area professional sports teams to go to the historic cemetery in Oakhurst, CA, stand next to his grave, and recite the epitaph written on his tombstone. On January 1, 2009, a young fan did this in hopes to break the curse. Peter was an avid fan of the Los Angeles sports teams.
