Sending email body as a Cipher is different than using E-mail encryption protocols. When the email body is sent as a cipher * The body text itself is encrypted and does not rely on the email/server protocols for protection. * The end receiver is the one who is responsible for decrypting the message body. E-Mail in general is not a secure communications medium * The message to be delivered is sent as plain text. * Multiple jumps through different servers. * All the while, the plain text can be analyzed with packet sniffers. Simple ciphers can thwart casual packet sniffers in Wi-Fi or cable networks. Depending on the encryption strength, the message can be expensive and time consuming to decrypt. At certain thresholds, it becomes impossible to decrypt. Mobile devices and E-Mail * Email on mobile devices is only as secure as the network. * Many mobile device users hook up to unsecured public wi-fi's. * To ensure your email is private, you should use a cipher for body text for sensitive or semi-sensitive information.
