Cryonics Society

The Cryonics Society is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization and is the only registered nonprofit organization in the world dedicated solely to educating and informing the public about the emerging medical technology known as cryonics.
Cryonics is the science of using extreme low temperature technology to preserve and restore human life.
Since its conception, cryonics has struggled with negative and inaccurate representations of its practices and aims. The stated aim of the Cryonics Society is to reverse this trend and accelerate the acceptance and development of cryonics as an emerging medical technology. It seeks to achieve this by supporting and undertaking promotional efforts on behalf of the practice, and by supplying newer and more comprehensive information on the subject to the public and to journalists.
Personnel and activities
The Cryonics Society was founded and is led by publisher and direct mail marketing specialist Nick Pavlica, retired former international attorney Bruce Waugh, and marketing consultant David Pascal. The organization itself is completely independent from and unaffiliated with existing cryonics services providers such as Alcor or the Cryonics Institute. It is funded entirely by independent donations from supporters. The Cryonics Society performs no procedures itself, nor does it maintain patients.
The Cryonics Society has undertaken various initiatives to improve public perceptions of the controversial practice. In 2005 it sent over 35,000 individuals a pro-cryonics direct-mail outreach letter intended to stir increased public support for cryonics. The organization has also used new social information technologies such as podcasting and videocasting in its promotional efforts.
On May 12, 2006, following an assessment of the organization by the United States government, the Cryonics Society was incorporated as a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, and was granted charitable status.
Funding
The Cryonics Society is a non-profit corporation entirely supported by tax-deductible contributions from supporters. Its personnel are marketing and legal professionals who serve the organization in an unsalaried capacity. Funds received go to defray the costs and efforts involved in providing public information and in undertaking promotional efforts and activities.
