In 1999 Kathy O'Connell had been a practicing CPA since 1987. She had worked for Ernst & Whiney (now Ernst & Young) and later as the comptroler of Banknorth Group. (now TD Bank), before founding CPA Site Solutions and her own independent accounting practice in 1999.

Company Culture
Despite its rapid growth and large market share, CPA Site Solutions has remained a family owned business. With the exception of a pair of in-house programmers, all of its employees, including owners and management, share responsibility for design, tech support, and customer service.
Holdings
In 2006 CPA Site Solutions acquired competitor Complete Site Interactive. They also own Accountant-Finder, a consumer targeted pay-for-premium vertical index website of CPA and Accounting firms.
