Conejo Oaks

The Conejo Oaks are a college summer baseball team based in Thousand Oaks, California. The Oaks joined the California Collegiate League in 2006 when they were founded as part of Mike Scioscia's Amateur Baseball Development Group. They play at Cal Lutheran's Sparky Anderson Field.
2014 MLB First Year Player Draft
Eleven current and former Conejo Oaks players were drafted in June's MLB First Year Player Draft. Outfielder Bryan Langlois (Conejo Oaks '13) was with Pepperdine in the College World Series Super Regionals at TCU when he was drafted by the Washington Nationals. Pitchers Luke Eubank (Conejo Oaks '12, '13, '14) and Ivan Vela (Conejo Oaks '13 and '14) were in Oaks uniforms when they heard the news; Eubank was drafted by the Cleveland Indians and Vela signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
25 Conejo Oaks players have been drafted by Major League Baseball teams since 2007. One additional player, Spencer Trygg, was not drafted but now plays for the Inland Empire 66ers in the Anaheim Angels farm system.
World Series Appearances by Conejo Oaks Players
In 2014 three current Conejo Oaks players made appearances on the road to Omaha. Connor Garelick and Manny Jefferson, both Pepperdine players, advanced to the Fort Worth Super Regional before being knocked out of the tournament by TCU. Mike Miller and the UC Irvine Anteaters joined TCU as one of eight teams to participate in the College World Series in Omaha.
In 2012 the Oaks qualified for the NBC World Series in Wichita but ultimately lost to their Central Division rivals, and World Series defending champions, the Santa Barbara Foresters.
Three players on the Oaks 2012 roster made College World Series appearances in Omaha as well. Jason D'Andrea was a member of UCLA's National Seed team, while Eric Fisher and Jacob Mahan played for Arkansas. Mahan had a hit in each game he started in the Waco Super Regional, and he played in three games during the College World Series.
California Collegiate League
The Oaks play in the California Collegiate League (CCL). Players wishing to compete in this elite league must have an NCAA Division 1 baseball scholarship. The CCL is a "gap league" where college players can gain experience at a semi-pro level by learning to play with wooden bats and flat seamed baseballs.
Other teams in the CCL include the Academy Barons, Los Angeles Brewers, Menlo Park Legends, Neptune Beach Pearl, PUF Capitalists, San Luis Obispo Blues, Santa Barbara Foresters, Santa Paula Halos, Southern California Catch, and Walnut Creek Crawdads. Of these teams, the Santa Barbara Foresters are the Oaks biggest rival.
Sponsorship
The Conejo Oaks are sponsored by the Amateur Baseball Development Group (ABDG). ABDG is a non-profit organization founded in the summer of 2004 by Mike Scioscia, Kevin Muno and Randy Riley to support amateur baseball players in Southern California.
