Concepts and Controversies in Islam
|
BASIC CONCEPTS OF ISLAM ---- Allah (God) Allah is the divine creator of this universe, he has no beginning and no end, he has been there and will remain (the earthly desire of humans to have children is because they know they will die one day and wish someone to be there to remember them or carry their surname etc). He knows what we know, and also knows what we don’t know, he has created all what we see and what we can’t see. We can’t see Allah but everything we see proves his existence and might. Allah sees everything yet he does not need eyes to see, he governs the universe to its smallest particle yet he doesn’t need hands to do it, he is everywhere yet he doesn’t need legs to move around, he feels everything but doesn’t need a heart for that. Prophets (Messengers of Allah) Allah has sent one hundred and twenty four thousand messengers to mankind, they all brought the same message (Humans have changed the teachings of Essah (Jesus) and Musa (Moses) to their own conveinience), and all the Prophets are respectable and true. Books of Allah The Books brought by Dawood (David) "Zaboor", Musa (Mosses) "Torat", Essah (Jesus) "Anjeel" and Muhammad "Quran" are all books sent from Allah and initially brought the same message as that of Quran. Angels Allah has created angels and deputed them to different assignments and they all do things they are assigned to do. Though this doesn't mean Allah couldn't do those things himself, he is almighty. Jibraeil (Gabriel) who brings messages from Allah to his devoted pupil, Israeil who takes the soul from the body at the time of death, Makaeil who governs the winds and Israfeil who will blow the "Soore" on doomsday are the top ranking angels. Dooms Day This earth and the Universe is a temporary arrangement and it will end one day, the Dooms Day. Every human being right from Adam and Eve to the last born child on this earth will have to appear before Allah for answering their deeds on earth, those who have done good things in their life time will be rewarded in "Heaven" and those who did bad things will be punished in "Hell". There would be people and Jinnys who will remain in "Hell" ever after, and those in "Heaven" will remain there ever after. OTHER CONCEPTS * Recognize the Truth and support it and advise others to do the same This phrase is repeated in Quran at several places, the first condition here is to recognize the truth, which is very important. If there are two persons or groups having controversy over something, and you are asked for support (as it is clearly instructed in Quran to never appoint yourself as judge between two rivals yourself, you can do it only if you are asked), then find out who is right and support him. Here another point is worth mentioning that if a poor or weak is being subdued against his right Muslims are suppose to help and support him even if he is a infidel and his rival is a Muslim. * Be Patient and advise others to be patient CONTROVERSIES WITHIN * Caliphood * Ashra Mubashra * Inheritance * Holy Prophet * The Four Companions * Mutah (Temporary Marriage) * Divorce * Jihad * Zakat * Taraweeh * Punishments (Amputation) * Controversial Personalities * Privacy & Other codes CONTROVERSIES WITH NON BELIEVERS * Status of Woman * Jihad * Capital Punishments * Dress Code
