Compound Radio is an independent, listener supported Internet radio station conceived and operated by Josh Lazie. The station was founded in 2008 and streams live from The Compound in Hollywood, California. The station's motto is "No Politics. No Religion. Just Music".
Compound Radio does not sell records, sell products or sell a lifestyle. The creators put it in place to simply be a place for people to play music.
Compound Radio has strong community ties featuring local disc jockeys, commentary and local celebrity guests. Frequent celebrity guests include Jon Josef from the Cro-Mags, Joey Castillo from Queens of the Stone Age, DH Peligro from Dead Kennedys, Oliver Peck, Corey Parks from Nashville Pussy/Die Hunns/The Lizzies, Sean Martin from Hatebreed, Phil Caivano from Monster Magnet and Janine Lindemulder. Listeners also commonly submit their requests via email or instant messenger, and also leave announcements that will be mentioned on the air. Much like newspaper classifieds, common announcements are regarding upcoming community events or just things that people want others in the community to be aware of.
Guest DJs play eclectic playlists of metal, reggae, punk, blues, rock, dub, listeners request, celebrity interviews, and plenty of surprises as Compound Radio attempts to transforms the parameter of internet radio forever.
Among its most well known programs are "The Big Take Over" with Josh Lazie, "Mexican Radio" with Ramon Felix, "WGAYRP" with T. Magick and X-Killer, "Psychedelic Solution" with Gordzilla, "Dub Side of the Moon" with Chris Davis, "Soul Salvation" with Wendi, and "Coffee Talk" with Corey Parks and Josh Lazie.
