The Compendium of the Traditional Catechism of the Catholic Church is a conservative and abbreviated version of the Catechism of the Catholic Church published by Pope John Paul II in 1992. The Compendium was edited in Washington D.C and published in 2013. Bishop Fernando Areas Rifan, Administrator of the St. John VianneyTraditionalist Catholic Administration from Campos Brazil cooperated with the project by reviewing and approving the material of the Compendium. While the Compendium is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, it contains dozens of additions or clarifications in segments where the original Catechism uses confusing language. The confusing segments are result of the compromising and ambiguous language of the Second Vatican Council. The Editor of the Catechism states that these segments are open to interpretation and can/might be used by “progressive” Catholics to justify their positions. According to the Editor of the Catechism, the additions provide the correct interpretation in Light of the Tradition of the Church and prevent misinterpretation.
