Colin Cobb

Colin Cobb is a Music Business Executive and an American Record Producer, engineer, mixer & songwriter based in Alpharetta, GA. Although he is known now for his Alternative and Indie Rock productions, Cobb's first major success was his early work writing and producing "Suzie's Pillows" for pop group LFO.
Cobb was raised in a household where music was the family business. His father, producer Winton Cobb, was one of the original founders of noted independent label Ichiban Records and also produced notable clients such as The Three Degrees, Billy Paul, Margie Joseph, Slave, Little Johnny Taylor, Inez Andrews, The Soul Stirrers, John P. Key, The Blind Boys, Doc Mckenzie, The Fantastic Violanaires, Roy Ayers, and St. Claire Pickney. Taking a cue from his father, Colin got his start as a teen producing hardcore punk bands. As a graduate of Full Sail Real World Education in production and business, Cobb continued to produce and work in A&R/Marketing through school. Cobb then spent time cutting his teeth at D.A.R.P. (Dallas Austin Recording Projects), before moving on to Transcontinental Studios working on major label Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, and R&B projects.
Known as an avid connoisseur of recording equipment, Colin launched his own Vintage Vibe Productions in 2004. Based around the legendary Trident Studios Series 80B console, Cobb's studio boasts pre-amps from the EMI Neve console, a 2" sixteen track analog tape machine refurbished by the "Analog Master" Mike Spitz, as well as a 1/2" two track tape machine originally belonging to Dick Clark Productions.
Recent years have seen Colin Cobb sign on as one of the partners and Head of A&R/Marketing of Ryko (owned by Warner Music Group) distributed Livewire Recordings, where he has recorded, produced, and mixed many of the artists on the label's roster. His production work has been featured in such publications as SPIN, Paste Magazine, Magnet, Billboard, HARP, Performing Songwriter, No Depression, Guitar Magazine and Music Connection, among others. Recently, Paste Magazine ranked the Cobb produced American Prehistoric by Warm In The Wake #73 on their 100 Best Of 2007 List.
