Coble Family

Kyle, Emma & Katie Coble (- May 4, 2007) were three siblings who were killed in a car accident when a big rig carrying over 40,000 lbs of electronics slammed into the back of the family minivan.
Early Life
On 3 May 2002, Lori and Chris Coble give birth to their first child, who they name Kyle Christopher Coble. Less than a year later, Lori and Chris welcome their first daughter, Emma Lynn. Finally, in March of 2005, they welcome their final child Katie Gene. Chris described themselves as "a goofy fun- loving family. There was always lots of dancing, lots of silliness."
Kyle was described as an angel; always making someone smile. Emma was described as brave, independant, and adventurous, and Katie was described as the little hand full; the princess.
The Accident
The day after Kyle's 5th birthday, May 4th, 2007, Lori decided to take the kids to a local shopping centre along with her mother Cindy. The kids went on the ferris wheel, went shopping, and went to the pet store. After a couple of hours, it was getting close to the childrens' nap time, so Lori and Cindy packed up the car and headed home. While driving on the free- way, Lori was stuck in traffic. It was then that she turned around to check on this kids. Kyle was playing on his new Nintendo DS he got for his birthday, while Emma and Katie were watching something on the DVD player. Lori states, "I noticed Katie falling asleep, so I reached back and I tickled her toes... That is the last thing I remember."
A big rig transport speeding with over 40,000 lbs of cargo slammed into the back of Lori's minivan. Lori was knocked unconcious with a severe concusion, while her mother Cindy remembers everything, "All I can remember is metal crashing, and crunching...it was the worst sound I have ever head in my life."
Hospital Transfer, and Death
In order to deal with all the trauma Lori and Cindy went to one hospital, Kyle and Katie went to another, and Emma went to a third. Chris was at work when he recieved a call; he wasn't told anything more about the accident until he go to the hospital.
As soon as he arrived, Chris was led to a small room where the doctor told him 'Katie had expired.' Chris then got a call a few minuted later from a dcotor at Saddleback Hospital. Chris remembers, "Please tell me Emma is alive. The doctor then said to me, I'm sorry but Emma has expired. It was like my world blacked out at the point." Chris had to tell Lori that Emma and Katie had died. "I just remember screaming. I didn't know how I could be live, and they could have died," Lori recalls.
Afterwards, Lori convinced Chris to go be with Kyle, "I didn't want Kyle to be alone. I didn't want him to be scared when he woke up."
Chris ruhed to be with Kyle, his only remaining child.
After Chris saw Kyle with lots of hospital equipment around him, the doctor told Chris that Kyle's brain hadn't been recieving any oxygen, and that he wasn't coming back. The doctor then suggested to stop life support.
Chris decided to have Lori transferrd so they could say goodbye to Kyle together, "I got to talk to him. Brushing his hair back and holding his hand. Telling him how sorry I am this happened- wish I could change this. Wish I could go in his place. I held my hand on his chest until his heart stopped beating...he was gone."
Funeral
On May 13, 2007, Kyle, 5, Emma, 4, and Katie just 2 were layed to rest. "I think the reality really started to settle in when we had to pick out caskets; decide where they were going to be laid to rest," says an emotional Lori. The service was held at Presbyterian Church of the Master. Each little coffin had a teddy bear on top of it. The girls had pink and purple flowers, and Kyle has blue flowers. Lori and Chris both spoke at the visitation, "We don't know how we're going to move on from here," says Chris at emotional service.
