Clio Area Amphitheater

The Clio Area Amphitheater is a concert venue located in Clio, Michigan, which is just north of Flint. This venue is run by two boards of executives. The first board is run by the City of Clio staff, who book and take care of the acts and consists of seven non-paid staff. The second board, Tacoma Productions, also consists of seven non-paid members. Tacoma Productions takes care of the concession stands, repairs, and volunteers.
Bankruptcy
In 2005, the Clio Area Amphitheater went bankrupt due to a lack of funds. The 2005 concert season was made up of many high-selling acts such as Larry the Cable Guy, Ron White, Buddy Guy, Clay Aiken and Travis Tritt. A few of the shows that summer didn't sell the number of tickets that the board would have hoped they would and the theater's budget was being cut too close. The Board filed for bankruptcy and closed down the venue.
Revival
In 2006, citizens of the City of Clio decided that the Amphitheater was "too good of a place to waste". That summer, the venue was rented out to local businesses to use for shows. As time went on, the need for a working board of governors was rising due to the growing attendance to the shows and businesses renting out the buildings. Later that summer, Tacoma Productions was started as a way to help keep order in the Amphitheater.
Tacoma Productions was created in early 2006 to help take over some of the duties of the City of Clio concerning the Clio Amphitheater. These duties included concessions, Repairs, and Volunteers.
Tacoma Productions were faced with the responsibility to recruit workers for the venue and very quickly decided to go with using volunteers. Even today, every single person that works in this venue is unpaid. Patrons that have been there to see a show have reported that the Amphitheater volunteers are the nicest and most helpful people they have ever encountered at a concert venue.
